 Smoked Sausage Bagel Sandwich

I’ve got some World Cup fever going on. I liked soccer before the World Cup started, but it’s too difficult to follow on American television. I don’t know who any of the players are, but that’s not what matters. What matters is that, when I’m home I’m watching the games, and if I want to eat before 9 o’clock, then I need to make something during half time to avoid missing any action.

Smoked Sausage Bagel Sandwich

This sandwich is perfect! It’s quick, filling, and easy to eat while cheering on your favorite team. I start with a bagel because really…bagels make for amazing sandwiches. They have that crunch on the outside, while being soft on the inside. Add some smoked sausage that was cooked on my new cast iron griddle (you can use any pan), a slice of cheese, and some sauce and you end up with heaven.

Start to finish, this sandwich takes about 10 minutes to make. I began cooking the sausage first and then placed the bagel in the toaster oven. Once the bagels are finished, I’m done with the sausage and all that’s left is to put it all together. Use whatever toppings you like! I like to melt some cheese on top just to add that something extra. Lately, I’ve been adding some BBQ sauce that I made, but I’ve also just put sriracha sauce on it as well. My boyfriend likes to add mustard to his. Play around and have fun with this! It’s a fun sandwich!!

1 (5 ounce) smoked sausage link, I like the brand Kiolbassa
2 bagels, I used asiago cheese bagels but any type will work
2 slices of cheese, your choice
Cilantro, to taste

Directions:
1) Place sausage on a heated skillet over medium heat.
2) While sausage is cooking, put the bagels in the toaster oven and toast to your liking.
3) When the bagels are done, take the sausage off the heat and cut into two halves on the short side. Then cut each half down the middle length wise.
4) Place the cheese on the bottom half of the bagel. Then add the sausage and top with the cilantro.
5) Spread the BBQ sauce on the top half of the bagel and finish assembling your sandwich!
